John Furze (PGA, GSED) has earned a well deserved reputation as an exceptional teacher by both his students and his peers.
John has been a member of the Professional Golfers Association of Australia for 49 years. It has been a love for this game of golf that has driven him on a journey to fulfill his personal ambitions and a passion that goes deep into the traditions of golf.
John's efforts along with his fellow Golfing Machine Professionals are to revolutionize golf instruction as we know it today through the works and times of the late Homer Kelley author of The Golfing Machine. Being one of 31 Teachers worldwide John was awarded the designation of "Doctorate in Golf Stroke Engineering".
With his extensive knowledge, indefatigable enthusiasm and his colourful communication skills, John brings an outstanding quality to golfing instruction.
His natural skills and abilities combine to make him one of the most highly proficient and sort after instructors in all the areas of the game.
John's commitment and insistence in requiring all his pupils to develop their own individual golf stroke and their understanding of the Three Zones of Action that are occurring throughout the stroke; Body, Arms and Hands. The player will soon come to realize that it is through Educated Hands that control the golf stroke.
Your golf stroke will be assembled in three stages; Basic Motion, Acquired Motion and Total Motion. The Basic Motion Curriculum can serve "as a syllabus for an exercise lesson." It is actually so much more than that. In fact, it is the Foundation of the Golf Stroke. You will be led step-by-step to the most effective, efficient golf stroke that you are capable of producing.
The Basic Motion is a short stroke of two feet back and through the ball but this is where and how you learn the correct impact.
The Acquired Motion is a stroke whereby the swing is taken back to right forearm parallel to the ground back and through and this is where you learn the correct Release Motions.
The Total Motion is your full swing which encompasses all three stages. This is how we will build your golf stroke. Remember, this is a team effort. We have the knowledge but you the player must absorb and apply and together we will make your golfing dreams come true.
With his contagious enthusiasm, his effective practical abilities and his natural aptitude for teaching enable him to earn and gain the respect and confidence of his pupils which is an enormous asset to his success as a teacher.
John keeps up to date with annual Golfing Machine Teaching Summits, continuing education courses, conducting seminars and with excellent net working opportunities through The Golfing Machine LLC. he remains at the cutting edge of the golf industry.
Ranked in the top 50 list of Teachers in Australia and a former Director of Golf Instruction at the Norman Von Nida Golf Academy (they were great days talking to the Von) John has a genuine desire and concern for the improvement and further development of The Golfing Machine Education Program worldwide.

Even the Greatest Struggle from Time to Time
Whether you are a Legend or a 15 handicapper, we all need advice and sometimes it can be really simple!
Jack Nicklaus, arguably the greatest player the game has ever seen, was struggling like a 15 handicapper at the Greats of Golf event.
In his own words, “I can’t play at all,” Nicklaus complained an hour earlier during a pre-round press conference. “I played yesterday in the pro-am and I threw a total perfect game.”
A perfect game? “I had a no-hitter. I never hit one shot on the face of the club for 18 holes,” he said.
He was hitting it fat, thin, in the heel, you name it, and he was hitting it everywhere BUT the sweetspot!
Hall of Famer Lanny Wadkins, loitering on the range and looking for nuggets for the Golf Channel telecast, stood behind Nicklaus as he tried to dig it out of the dirt. “Pretty good, Jack. You almost took a divot,” Wadkins cracked.
Here comes Lee Trevino to the rescue. The Merry Mex said he’d been watching his long-time rival and friend from the opposite end of the range.
“You’ve got the ball too far forward. Move it back six inches,” Trevino instructed. “I’ve played it there my whole life,” Nicklaus said. “Yeah, well, you weren’t 76 then,” Trevino teased.
“If you think we’re here just to goof around, we’re not,” Nicklaus said. “We want to have fun, but we still want to win.”
“How could I miss this?” he said.
Using Trevino’s swing tip, Nicklaus came to life as he has so many times before. On the 10th hole, he socked a drive and Pate asked, tongue firmly set in cheek, “Jack, have you ever thought of playing this game for a living?”
And when Nicklaus connected “on the screws,” as the expression went in his heyday, he turned to Trevino and said, “I couldn’t have done it without that little lesson you gave me. Guarantee it.”
At the Greats of Golf, that’s what teammates are for.
If you are having trouble and can’t quite figure out how to fix those issues, come join me and let’s make the game fun again!
Remember Golf is for a Lifetime.
